1.一般地，“n₁+of+n₂”作主語時的主謂一致，分為兩種情況：①當“a+n₁+of+n₂”作主語時，語義重心在右邊（n₂），根據n₂確定謂語的數。②但是，當“the+n₁+of+n₂”或“n₁復數+of+n₂”作主語時，語義重心移到左邊（n₁），根據n₁確定謂語的數。這是因為，把n₁由a變為the或復數，意在強調n₁，所以，語義重心由右邊（n₂）轉移到左邊（n₁）。

這些of短語有：①跟可數名詞的，如，a(n) number/average/group of。②跟不可數名詞的，如，a great deal of，a(n) bit/amount of。③跟可數或不可數名詞的，如，a kind/sort/type of，a quantity/ proportion/variety/plenty of，分數/百分數+of。
