關(guān)閉窗口 2. 用作實(shí)義動詞，意為“敢于”，可以有各種詞形變化，其后多接帶 to 的不定式(有時 to 也可省去)，可用于肯定句、否定句、疑問句以及各種從句。如：
He didn’t dare (to) go. 他不敢去。
We must dare to think, speak and act. 我們必須敢想，敢說，敢做。
I wonder how he dares (to) say such things. 我納悶他怎么竟敢說出這樣的話來。
The boy stood before the teacher, not daring to look up. 這個小男孩站在老師面前不敢抬頭。
◆dawn n.
1. 用作名詞，表示“黎明”或“拂曉”，通常是不可數(shù)名詞，其前通常不用冠詞。如：
It’s almost dawn. 天快亮了。
We started at (before) dawn. 我們天亮?xí)r(前)出發(fā)。
When dawn broke we had already got there. 天亮?xí)r我們已到達(dá)那兒了。
2. 短語 from dawn till dark [dusk]，意為“從早到晚”，屬書面用語，在口語或非正式文體中通常用 from morning to night。如：
They worked from dawn to dark. 他們起早摸黑地工作。
◆deal n. & v.
1. 用作名詞，注意兩條短語：
(1) a great [good] deal of 意為“許多”，其后通常接不可數(shù)名詞(包括動名詞)。如：
He spent a great deal of money on it. 他為此花了很多錢。
He’s done a great deal of travelling. 他旅游了很多地方。
(2) a great [good] deal, 可用作主語、賓語、狀語(修飾動詞分詞或比較級等)。如：
He smokes a great deal. 他經(jīng)常見面。
He was a good deal surprised. 他非常吃驚。
I’ve heard a great deal about it. 對此事我聽說了不少。
He knew a great deal more than I did. 他懂的比我比得多。
At the end of the year there was a great deal to do. 年底有很多事要做。
2. 用作動詞，注意以下短語：
(1) deal in 意為“做……買賣”、“出售”、“經(jīng)營”。如：
The shop deals in furniture. 這家商店經(jīng)營家具。
We deal in hardware but not software. 我們只經(jīng)營硬件而不經(jīng)營軟件。
(2) deal out 意為“分給”、“分配”。如：
The food must be dealt out fairly. 這食物必須公平分配。
The Red Cross dealt food to hungry soldiers. 紅十字會把食物分發(fā)給饑餓的士兵。
(3) deal with 意為“處理”、“對付”、“對待”、“論述”、“做買賣”等。如：
How shall we deal with this matter? 這事我們怎么處理?
I don’t know how to deal with him. 我不知怎樣與他相處。
He often deals with that shop. 他經(jīng)常在那家商店買東西。
We have no time to deal with such details. 我們沒有時間來討論這種細(xì)節(jié)問題。
◆death n.
1. 表示抽象意義的“死”，通常為不可數(shù)名詞。如：
Death comes to all men. 人皆有一死。
Food poisoning can cause death. 食物中毒可導(dǎo)致死亡。
2. 表示具體的死亡人數(shù)等，則為可數(shù)名詞。如：
A great many deaths have taken palce here lately. 這里近來死了很多人。
The earthquake has caused fifteen thousand deaths. 地震已造成15000人死亡。
注：表示某種類型的死，也可用作可數(shù)名詞。如：
When we die for the people it is a worthy death. 為人民 而死，死得其所。
