關(guān)閉窗口 4. 用于 on the increase(在不斷增加)，注意其中的冠詞。如：
Traffic accidents here are on the increase. 這里的交通事故在不斷增加。
◆indeed adv.
1. 用于強(qiáng)調(diào)肯定回答的語氣，這是一種相當(dāng)正式的用法，大致等于 certainly, really 等。如：
A：It’s cold. 天很冷。
B：It is indeed. 的確很冷。
A：Do you agree? 你同意嗎?
B：Yes, indeed. 當(dāng)然同意。
2. 用于“very＋形容詞或副詞”之后加強(qiáng)語氣，其意大致相當(dāng)于really。如：
Thank you very much indeed. 的確非常感謝你。
She spoke very clearly indeed. 她說得很清楚。
I was very pleased indeed to get your letter. 收到你的來信我確實(shí)很高興。
注：在該用法中，形容詞或副詞前的 very 一般不能少。如：
誤：Thank you indeed.
誤：She spoke clearly indeed.
誤：I was pleased indeed to get your letter.
雖然偶爾也可見到以上沒有 very 的例子，但學(xué)生在應(yīng)試最好避免。
3. 表示對(duì)對(duì)方所說的事感興趣、吃驚、諷刺、輕蔑等心情，主要用于口語中。如：
A：He expects to win. 他希望贏哩。
B：Does he, indeed! 哦，他還想贏。
A：Who is this woman? 這個(gè)女人是誰?
B：Who is she, indeed! 她是誰，那還用問嗎?
4. 表示更進(jìn)一層的意思，可譯為“甚至”，“實(shí)際上”。如：
I didn’t mind. Indeed, I was pleased. 我不介意，甚至我還高興呢！
5. indeed 一般不用于疑問句中，也不用于說明想法或期望的句子中。如下面這樣的句子一般是不可接受的：
誤：Is he very angry indeed?
誤：I wonder if he is sad indeed.
◆industry n.
1. 有兩個(gè)意思：一是表示“勤奮”、“勤勞”(不可數(shù))，二是表示“工業(yè)”、“產(chǎn)業(yè)”(泛指，不可數(shù)；指某類工業(yè)，可數(shù))。如：
He won the prize through his industry. 他靠勤奮獲獎(jiǎng)。
One cannot succeed without industry. 不勤勉就不能成功。
New industries sprang up. 出現(xiàn)了許多新興工業(yè)。
The country is supported by industry. 工業(yè)是該國(guó)的支柱。
2. 詞義不同，所派生出的形容詞也不同：industrial(工業(yè)的)、industrious(勤勞的)。如：
This is an industrial area. 這是工業(yè)區(qū)。
What industrious people they are! 他們真勤奮啊!
◆information n.
1. 表示“情報(bào)”、“消息”、“資料”等，是不可數(shù)名詞。表示關(guān)于某人或某物的情報(bào)、消息或資料等，根據(jù)情況可選用介詞 on 或about。如：
Can you give me any information about the writer? 你能給我提供一些關(guān)于這位作家的情況嗎?
The book gives all sorts of useful information on how torepair cars. 這本書介紹修理小汽車的各種有用資料。
I want some information on [about] the matter. 我想打聽關(guān)于這件事的消息。
