表示“成功”，是不可數名詞；而表示“成功的人或事”，是可數名詞。如：

We are sure of success. 我們肯定會成功。

Failure is the mother of success. 失敗是成功之母。

His new book was a great success. 他的新書獲得巨大成功。

He was a success as a leader. 作為領導，他干得很成功。

He has had several successes with his plays. 他的幾個劇本都很成功。

注：表示在某一方面的成功，通常用介詞 in。如：

I wish success in your new position. 祝你在新工作崗位上獲得成功。

用作形容詞，表示“成功的”，表示在某一方面的成功，用介詞in。如：

◆such adj.

1. 表示“那樣的”、“這樣的”，與 no, any, some, all, few, many, each, every, several, other, another, one, two 等詞語連用，應置于其后，但是與不定冠詞連用時，要置于其前。如：

All such books are interesting. 這類書全都很有趣。

I have met many such people. 我見過許多那樣的人。

I need one such dictionary. 我需要一本這樣的詞典。

He is such a helpful person. 他真是個熱心人。

受no such修飾的名詞無需再用冠詞:

沒有這么一回事。

正：There is no such thing.

誤：There is no such a thing.

2. 在“such＋名詞”之前，可用 some, all, many等修飾，但通常不用 some of, many of, all of 等修飾。如：

所有這些可能性都必須考慮。

正：All such possibilities must be considered.

誤：All of such possibilities must be considered.

3. 用于 such as：表示舉例或列舉，意為“像這樣的”、“諸如此類的”、“例如”等，用來引出同位語，通常應放在所修飾的名詞之后。如：

Don’t do anything silly such as marry him. 不要做什么蠢事，比如說去嫁給他。

◆such…as & such…that

such……as 中的 as 是關系代詞，用以引導定語從句，在句中充當主語或賓語等，而 such……that 中的 that 只起引導詞的作用，用以引導結果狀語。如：

我從未聽過他講那樣的故事。

正：I’ve never heard such stories as he tells.

誤：I’ve never heard such stories that he tells.

這石頭那么重，我搬不動。

正：It’s such a heavy stone that I can’t move it.

誤：It’s such a heavy stone as I can’t move it.
