◆whose pron. & adj.

用作關(guān)系代詞，在定語從句作定語，注意以下用法:

1. 既可以指人也可以指物。如：

Do you know anyone whose family is in Beijing? 你認(rèn)識(shí)什么人家住北京的嗎?

The river whose banks are covered with trees is verylong. 兩岸蔽滿樹木的那條河很長(zhǎng)。

The deer whose leg had been hurt couldn’t run fast. 那只腿受傷的鹿不能跑得很快。

2. 引導(dǎo)定語從句的“whose＋名詞”，有時(shí)可換成其它結(jié)構(gòu)，注意詞序的變化。比較:

破了窗戶的那座房子是空的。

正：The house whose windows are broken is empty.

　正：The house the windows of which are broken is empty.

正：The house of which the windows are broken is empty.

正：The house with broken windows is empty.

3. 不僅可引導(dǎo)限制性定語從句，也可引導(dǎo)非限制性定語從句。如：

This is Tom, whose father is a doctor. 這是湯姆，他父親是醫(yī)生。

◆year n.

1. 表示“年”，注意在類似以下這樣的句子中其前的冠詞通常省略。如：

We are lucky to be in Paris at this time of (the) year. 我們很幸運(yùn)能在一年的這個(gè)時(shí)候來到巴黎。

It’s the time of (the) year for the rice harvest. 這是一年收獲稻子的時(shí)節(jié)。

注：成語 all the year round(一年到頭，整年) 中的定冠詞有時(shí)也可省略(有時(shí) round 也省略)。如：

The farmers are busy all (the) year (round). 農(nóng)民們一年到頭都很忙。

The weather is so good here that we can swim all (the)year round. 這里天氣很好，我們整年都可以游泳。

2. the year 有時(shí)可用作連詞，引導(dǎo)時(shí)間狀語從句。如：

His father died the year he was born. 他父親在他出生那年去世。

He left Europe the year World War II broke out. 他是第二次世界大戰(zhàn)爆發(fā)那一年離開歐洲的。

3. 復(fù)數(shù)的 years 可以表示“多年”。如：

I’ve known her for years. 我認(rèn)識(shí)她多年了。

He left here years ago. 他已離開這兒多年。

◆yet adv.

1. 用作副詞，表示“已經(jīng)”、“至今”、“仍然”等，通常用于否定句、疑問句(包括一些表示懷疑的動(dòng)詞)，且通常位于句末。如：

Is your mother back yet? 你母親回來了嗎?

I don’t want to go away yet. 我還不想離開。

I doubt if he has read it yet. 我懷疑他是否讀過它。

注：在否定句中，有時(shí)也位于句中(緊跟在否定詞之后)，這種用法比句末位置的用法更正式。如：

我們還不知道答案。

正：We don’t know the answer yet. (口語或非正式)

正：We do not yet know the answer. (正式)

誤：We don’t know yet the answer.

但有時(shí)可緊跟在動(dòng)詞后的從句前。如：

I don’t know yet whether he’ll come or not. 我還不知道他來不來。
