THE “SEEM” GROUP These verbs are concerned with what a situation seems like to someone. They are also found without the prepositional phrase, in the pattern It+v+ that從句. Of the verbs in this meaning group, seem occurs much more frequently than any of the other verbs. (1) He said it appeared that between 1,000 and 1,500 homes had been damaged or destroyed in the state. (2) "It appeared to me that Ms. Mason seemed to feel that her opinion was the only solution to the case," Keeshan said. (3) Almost all the time it feels that the worst hasn’t yet happened.
