3. 一日三餐為：breakfast(早餐)，lunch(中餐)，supper(晚餐)

等。其用法與上面 dinner 的用法大致相同：

(1) 表示一般意義的“早餐”、“中餐”、“晚餐”時(shí)，其前不用冠詞。如：

I go to work after breakfast. 我吃早餐后就去上班。

At what time do you have supper? 你什么時(shí)候吃晚餐?

(2) 若具體指某一頓飯或受形容詞的修飾，則也可用冠詞。如：

He shared a supper with a friend. 他與朋友共進(jìn)晚餐。

Thank you for the breakfast. 謝謝你的這頓早餐。

We sat down to a good supper. 我們坐下來(lái)吃了一頓豐盛的晚餐。

◆direction n.

1. 表示“方向”或“方面”，是可數(shù)名詞。表示“朝……方向或在……方面”，通常與介詞 in 連用。如：

Tom went in off in one direction and Jack in another. 湯姆往一個(gè)方向走，杰克往另外一個(gè)方向走。

He answered me very directly and openly. 他非常坦率地回答了我。

He refused to say directly what he thinks. 他拒絕直接了當(dāng)?shù)卣f(shuō)出他的想法。

2. 表示“恰好”、“正好”。如：

He lives directly opposite the church. 他住在教堂的正對(duì)面。

3. 在英國(guó)英語(yǔ)中，既可表示“立即”、“馬上”，也可表示“不久以后”。如：

Come here directly. 馬上過(guò)來(lái)。

I will be there directly. 我很快就到。

在沒(méi)有特定上下文的情況下，可能有歧義。如：

I will start directly. 我馬上動(dòng)身(或:我不久將動(dòng)身)。

4. 在英國(guó)英語(yǔ)中，可用作連詞(＝as soon as)。如：
