◆discover v.

通常用作及物動(dòng)詞，主要用法有：

1. 表示“發(fā)現(xiàn)”某一具體的東西，后接名詞或代詞作賓語。如：

Who discovered America? 誰發(fā)現(xiàn)了美洲?

It was discovered among waste paper. 這是在廢紙中發(fā)現(xiàn)的。

2. 表示“發(fā)現(xiàn)”某一情況，其后的賓語可以是：

(1) 名詞或代詞。如(www.hz123456.com)：

We soon discovered the truth. 我們很快發(fā)現(xiàn)了事實(shí)真相。

My wallet is missing. I just discovered it. 我的錢包不見了，我剛剛發(fā)現(xiàn)的。

(2) 復(fù)合賓語。如：

We discovered her to be a good cook. 我們發(fā)現(xiàn)她很會(huì)煮飯。

I discovered him kissing my wife. 我發(fā)現(xiàn)他在吻我妻子。

(3) 疑問詞＋不定式。如：

We haven’t discovered how to imporve it. 我們還沒找到如何改進(jìn)它的辦法。

(4) 從句。如：

I discovered that my wallet had been stolen. 我發(fā)現(xiàn)我的錢包被偷了。

Did you ever discover who did it? 你發(fā)現(xiàn)是誰干的了嗎?

◆discuss v.

1. 表示“討論”，是及物動(dòng)詞，其后直接跟賓語，不要按漢語習(xí)慣在其后使用介詞 on, about 等。如：

他拒絕討論這個(gè)問題。

誤：He refused to discuss about [on] the matter.

正：He refused to discuss the matter.

2. 其后接動(dòng)詞時(shí)，用動(dòng)名詞(不用不定式)。如：

They discussed selling the house. 他們商量過賣房子的事。

We’re here to discuss Ann’s joining the club. 我們這次碰頭是為了談?wù)劙踩霑?huì)的事。

注：其后雖不接不定式，但可接“疑問詞＋不定式”。比較：

We discussed what to do. /We discussed what we should do. 我們討論該做些什么。

3. 其后可接 whether 引導(dǎo)的賓語從句，但一般不接 if引導(dǎo)的賓語從句。如：

They discussed whether they should leave there. 他們討論了是否應(yīng)該離開那兒。
