◆please interj. & v.

1. 用作感嘆詞，表示“請(qǐng)”，用于客氣的請(qǐng)求或吩咐，可用于祈使句、疑問(wèn)句以及名詞詞組等。如：

Tickets, please. 請(qǐng)把票拿出來(lái)。

Please don’t touch it. 請(qǐng)不要摸它。

Please may I come in? 請(qǐng)問(wèn)我可以進(jìn)來(lái)嗎?

What’s your name, please? 請(qǐng)問(wèn)你叫什么名字?

請(qǐng)把那本書給我好嗎?

正：Will you please give me that book?

正：Will you give me that book, please?

正：Please will you give me that book?

2. 用作動(dòng)詞，表示“使人高興或滿意”，是及物動(dòng)詞。如：

One can’t please everybody. 一人難合百人意。

Our main aim is to please the customers. 我們的目的是要讓顧客滿意。

3. 不要一概將漢語(yǔ)的“請(qǐng)”譯為 please。如：

我請(qǐng)他留下，但他不愿留下。

誤：I pleased him to stay, but he wouldn’t.

正：I asked him to stay, but he wouldn’t.

我打算請(qǐng)幾個(gè)朋友吃飯。

誤：I’m going to please some friends to dinner.

正：I’m going to invite some friends to dinner.

最后我們決定去請(qǐng)醫(yī)生。

誤：At last we decided to please a doctor.

正：At last we decided to send for a doctor.

◆pleasure n.

1. 表示一般意義的“愉快”、“高興”、“快樂(lè)”等，是不可數(shù)名詞；表示具體的“樂(lè)事”、“快事”等，是可數(shù)名詞。比較：

同你談話(我們)很愉快。

正：It gives us much pleasure to talk with you.

正：It is a pleasure to talk with you.

2. 其后一般不接不定式，但可接“of＋動(dòng)名詞”(此時(shí) pleasure前一般有定冠詞)或“in＋動(dòng)名詞”(此時(shí) pleasure前通常不用冠詞)。如：

When may I have the pleasure of seeing you again? 什么時(shí)候我能有幸再見(jiàn)到你?

He takes great pleasure in teaching children. 他很喜歡教小孩。

注：當(dāng)句首有形式主語(yǔ) it 時(shí)，pleasure 后通常可接不定式(用作句子真正主語(yǔ))。如：

It gives me great pleasure to grow flowers. 種花給很大的樂(lè)趣。

3. 注意：下面兩句從語(yǔ)法結(jié)構(gòu)上看是一樣的，但是從交際角度上看，第二句不可接受的：

正：May I have the pleasure of dancing with you? 我可以 和你跳舞嗎?

誤：Will you have the pleasure of dancing with me?

4. 比較 my pleasure和 with pleasure：前者用來(lái)回答感謝，意為“不用謝”；后者用來(lái)答應(yīng)對(duì)方的請(qǐng)求或邀請(qǐng)等，意為“可以”、“沒(méi)問(wèn)題”。如：

A：Thank you for helping me. 謝謝你幫了我。

B：My pleasure. 別客氣。(www.hz123456.com)

A：Will you lend me the book? 這本書你借給我好嗎?

B：With pleasure. 可以。

注：回答感謝，除可用 my pleasure 外，還可用：(It’s) a pleasure. /(It’s) my pleasure. /Pleasure was all mine. 等。
