Please telephone us when you are in trouble. 有困難給我們來電話。

He was said to be in trouble with his boss. 據說他受到老板的訓斥。

(8) The trouble is (that)……意為“麻煩是……”、“困難在于……”。如：

The trouble is (that) we don’t know where he is. 問題是我們不知道他在哪里。

The trouble is that he doesn’t have enough money. 困難在于他沒有足夠的錢。

2. 用作動詞，意為“(使)煩惱”、“麻煩”、“費心”等，可用作及物或不及物動詞，注意以下句型結構：

(1) trouble about 意為“為……費心”，通常用于否定句或疑問句。如：

A：Do you want me to post it for you? 要我幫你寄嗎?

B：No, don’t trouble (about it)，thank you. 不必費心了，謝謝你。

(2) trouble to do sth 意為“費心做某事”，通常用于否定句或疑問句。如：

Don’t trouble to come out, please. 請留步，別出來啦。

If it’s difficult for you to get away, don’t trouble to come. 如果實在抽不出身，就不必費心來了。

(3) trouble sb for [to do] sth 意為“麻煩某人做某事”，通常用于疑問句，句首通常用 may, might, can, could 等情態動詞，表示客氣的請求。如：

Can I trouble you for the time? My watch seems to have stopped. 請問現在幾點鐘了?我的表好像停了。

May I trouble you to pass me the salt?/May I trouble you for the salt? 請把鹽遞給我好嗎?

◆trouser n.

1. 表示“褲子”、“長褲”，通常只用復數形式，若用作主語，其謂語也用復數；要表示幾條褲子用單位詞pair, 此時用作主語，其謂語的數與 pair 保持一致。如：

My trousers are very old. 我的褲子很舊了。

This pair of trousers is his. 這條褲子是他的。

Three pairs of trousers were stolen. 有三條褲子被盜。

注：雖為復數，但不可直接受數詞修飾(與 pair 連用則可以)，不過它可直接用 these, those 等修飾。

2. 使用代詞時，trousers要用復數代詞 them, 而是 it；另外對于 a pair of trousers 之類的則用 pair 替代，而不用 one, ones等。如：

Your trousers are dirty. You should wash them. 你的褲子很臟了，你應該把它洗一洗。

I don’t like this pair of trousers. Would you show me another pair. 我不喜歡這條褲子，請另外拿條給我看看好嗎?

3. 以下表達中 trouser 用了單數，因此它在此用作形容詞：a

1. 用作名詞，表示“信任”、“信賴”等，是不可數名詞，其后常接介詞 in。如：

Her trust in him was complete. 她完全信任他。

The people’s trust in the government has been shaken. 人民對政府的信任已經動搖。

注：名詞 trust 通常用于 have [put, place] trust in。如：

I have no trust in his promises. 我不相信他的諾言。

He put his trust in his parents. 他信賴自己的父母。

Please put [place, have] (your) trust in her. 請信任她。

2. 用作動詞，注意下列句型:

(1) trust sb to do sth 表示“放心讓某人做某事”。如：

Do you trust the child to go out alone at night? 你放心讓孩子一個人晚上出去嗎?

I went straight past the dog and didn’t trust myself to stop. 我趕快從那條狗旁邊走過去，不敢停下。

(2) trust sb with sth /trust sth to sb 意為“把某事或某物交給某人辦理或保管”。如：

我們把鑰匙交給他行嗎?

正：Can we trust the keys to him?

正：Can we trust him with the keys?
