“昨天晚上”通常說成 yesterday evening, 至于能否用last evening, 專家們有不同意見, 有的詞書說能用, 有的詞書說不能用, 建議考生在應(yīng)試用yesterday evening為宜。

2. 另外last week, last month, last year, last spring等之類的說法, 也都用last。

3. 以上各表達(dá)均具有副詞性質(zhì), 因此通常不在其前使用at, on, in之類的介詞。如：

他昨晚到達(dá)。

正：He arrived last night.

誤：He arrived on last night.

30. 是 two other 還是 other two

他又寫了兩本小說。

此題應(yīng)選B。other與數(shù)詞連用時(shí), 要注意以下習(xí)慣：

1. 若泛指(即沒有冠詞), 數(shù)詞應(yīng)放在other之前：

桌上另外有兩本書。

正：There are two other books on the desk.

誤：There are other two books on the desk.

又有兩個(gè)學(xué)生入了團(tuán)。

正：Two other students have joined the League.

誤：Other two students have joined the League.

正：Another two students have joined the League.

正：Two more students have joined the League.

2. 若特指(即其前用the), 則數(shù)詞可以放在other之前或之后：

把另外兩本書給我。

正：Give me the other two books.

正：Give me the two other books.

其他三位乘客是婦女。

正：The other three passengers were women.

正：The three other passengers were women.

比較：There were three other passengers on thebus. 公共汽車上還有三位乘客。

31. 如何譯“你那個(gè)兒子”

你那個(gè)兒子很聰明。

Which is right?

A. You that son is very clever.                B. Your that son is very clever.

C. That your son is very clever.               D. That son of yours is very clever.

此題應(yīng)選D。其它幾項(xiàng)不能選, 主要是因?yàn)椋河⒄Z中指示代詞和物主代詞同屬中位限定詞, 而按照英語習(xí)慣, 中位限定詞互相排斥(即不能彼此搭配)。如：

正：that book of yours

誤：your that book

誤：that your book
