3. 一日三餐為：breakfast(早餐)，lunch(中餐)，supper(晚餐)

等。其用法與上面 dinner 的用法大致相同：

(1) 表示一般意義的“早餐”、“中餐”、“晚餐”時，其前不用冠詞。如：

I go to work after breakfast. 我吃早餐后就去上班。

At what time do you have supper? 你什么時候吃晚餐?

(2) 若具體指某一頓飯或受形容詞的修飾，則也可用冠詞。如：

He shared a supper with a friend. 他與朋友共進晚餐。

Thank you for the breakfast. 謝謝你的這頓早餐。

We sat down to a good supper. 我們坐下來吃了一頓豐盛的晚餐。

◆direction n.

1. 表示“方向”或“方面”，是可數名詞。表示“朝……方向或在……方面”，通常與介詞 in 連用。如：

Tom went in off in one direction and Jack in another. 湯姆往一個方向走，杰克往另外一個方向走。

2. 表示“指導”或“指揮”，是不可數名詞。表示“在……的指導下”，與介詞 under 連用。如：

3. 表示“指示”、“指引”、“用法說明”等，通常要用復數形式。如：

He refused to say directly what he thinks. 他拒絕直接了當地說出他的想法。

2. 表示“恰好”、“正好”。如：

He lives directly opposite the church. 他住在教堂的正對面。

3. 在英國英語中，既可表示“立即”、“馬上”，也可表示“不久以后”。如：

Come here directly. 馬上過來。

I will be there directly. 我很快就到。

在沒有特定上下文的情況下，可能有歧義。如：

I will start directly. 我馬上動身(或:我不久將動身)。

4. 在英國英語中，可用作連詞(＝as soon as)。如：

I went home directly I had finished work. 我一干完工作就回家了。
