5.7.6 連詞that引導讓步狀語從句

根據趙俊英編著的《英語副詞用法•轉換形式詞典》(山東友誼出版社 1999年10月第1版) P834-835和章振邦主編的《新編英語語法》(第三版) (上海譯文出版社1997年1月第3版) P1245-1248, 以下包含that的連詞可以引導讓步狀語從句。

1. admitting (that ) 即使承認

李慰萱主編的《英語連詞用法辨析》(福建教育出版社 1988年12月第1版) P13認為：admitting (that) 從屬連詞，后接從句，作“即使承認……”解，表示讓步的意思。例如：

Admitting that he has the ability to do that, he has to work hard to carry it out.

Admitting what you say, I still think that you made a mistake.

2. despite the fact that 盡管

孟德杰主編《英語關聯詞詞典》(中國國際廣播出版社 1991年11月北京第1版) P81認為：despite the fact that 屬于復合連詞，可以引導讓步狀語從句。例如：

“… he was deep in sleep, despite the fact that his teeth played all the popular airs.”

3.for all that 盡管

For all that it was a cold night, the sweat was pouring down my face.

I would go for all that he advised me not to.

4. granted/granting that 盡管；即使

Granting that/Granted that he has enough money to buy the house, I doesn’t mean he’s going to do so.

5.in spite of the fact that 盡管

孟德杰主編《英語關聯詞詞典》(中國國際廣播出版社 1991年11月北京第1版) P81認為：in spite of the fact that屬于復合連詞，可以引導讓步狀語從句。例如：

In spite of the fact that he was a small man Mr Johnson irradiated this feeling of well-being as he came down the steps.

6. not but that 雖然

The teacher was extremely kind, not but that she could be very stern on matters of principle.

I can’t come not but that I’d like to.

7.notwithstanding the fact that 盡管

孟德杰主編《英語關聯詞詞典》(中國國際廣播出版社 1991年11月北京第1版) P81認為：notwithstanding the fact that屬于復合連詞，可以引導讓步狀語從句。例如：

Notwithstanding the fact that the president urged acceptance of the proposal, it was defeated by the voters.

8. notwithstanding (that) 盡管

孟德杰主編《英語關聯詞詞典》(中國國際廣播出版社 1991年11月北京第1版) P73認為：notwithstanding the fact that屬于邊際連詞，可以引導讓步狀語從句。例如：

He is honest, notwithstanding that he is poor.

He went notwithstanding that he was ordered not to. 

9.regardless of the fact that 盡管

Randolph Quirk等著的A COMPREHENSIVE GRAMMAR OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE《英語語法大全》( 翻譯本) (華東師范大學出版社 1989年9月第1版) P1382認為：regardless of the fact that 相當于although，引導讓步狀語從句。例如：

Regardless of the fact that she spoke English like a native speaker when I met her, her close friends were two girls from her ESL classes.(COCA)

Regardless of the fact that Kanye and I have not known each other for a long time, we’ve become very close. (COCA)

10. that 【用倒裝語序】雖然；盡管

Child that he is, he knows enough to tell good from bad. 

Strong man that he is, he has been severely put to the test during the past few weeks.

Small that atoms are, there are electrons still smaller.

六、副詞that 

6.1引言

That在口語中可以用作程度副詞，來代替so或 very，意思是“那么、這么、很、非常”，主要修飾形容詞或副詞。

6.2. that的用法

1. 那么(通過手勢表示大、多等) 。例如：

I can’t walk that far.

There was only that much left in the bottle.

2. 那么、那樣(通常用于否定句或疑問句中，表示程度很嚴重) 例如：

No one expected it to cost that much.

I know some people left before the end, but was it really that bad?

3. 那么、那樣(用于強調感情或品質程度之深) 例如：

I was that embarrassed I didn’t know want to say.

They actually moved down from upstairs because the rent’s that expensive.

4. not (all) that… 相當于not very…   意思是“不很……， 不那么……”。例如：

The film wasn’t all that good.

Kids don’t change that fast.

It isn’t all that cold.
